About the Agra Red Fort:-
Located in India's Agra City, the structure is also called "Agra Qila" and is listed under UNESCO World Heritage sites. The fort was built by Emperor Akbar, the greatest monarch of the Mughal dynasty, in 1565. Built initially as a military fort by Akbar, it was later converted into an imperial residence of Shah Jahan (grandson), who built the Taj Mahal. The fort is known for some of the most important historical events, such as when Shah Jahan was house-arrested by his son Aurangzeb.

Architecture of Agra Red Fort:-
The architecture of Agra Red Fort is flawless in coherence with Islamic and Hindu styles, demonstrating exceptional Muslim creative craftsmanship. The fort is semi-circular, and the building has a stern design face (that looks like Delhi in India) along the Yamuna riverside. Some of the grand buildings at this beautiful site are Jahangir Mahal, Diwan-i-Am (Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), Khas Mahal and Shish Mahal or Mirror Palace along with Musamman Burj where Shah Jahan was imprisoned.
The fort is made of red sandstone, hence its reddish color. Shah Jahan further embellished the family quarters of the pavilion with marble and precious stones inlay, making it all more unique, inviting, eye-catching, and palatial zeal.

The Agra Red Fort is spread over a vast area of roughly 94 acres. The fort is enclosed by about 2.5 km long wall and contains many palaces, wells, and gardens with water channels running throughout, affecting the temperature artificially within that range itself!

Entry fees INR 50(INDIAN), INR600( FOREIGNERS) FROM 2024 ONWARDS. Free entry is available for those under 15 years old, regardless of nationality. Check for current rates before you make your plans!

An Ideal Time to Visit Agra Red Fort:-
The Agra Fort is best visited during the less hot months of October and March. It is the best time to visit here as suitable weather conditions will be generated, and you can also explore other sightseeing destinations in Agra. So, the monsoon months (July to September) are another option--as long as your travel plans don't get washed away.

Agra Fort is open daily for visitors from sunrise to sunset. Generally, this means opening at 6 am and closing around 6 pm. These times might be off a little depending on the time of year since daylight varies.
